PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION SERVICES

Mission

The mission of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service is the provision of direct health care required for the treatment and rehabilitation of the patient, and ensuring through appropriate methods and techniques the treatment and rehabilitation of the patient, in order to facilitate his/her integration into the social, family and professional environment.
Rehabilitate the patient with the objective of reaching the maximum functionality and quality of life, ensuring the quality, rigour and humanisation of health care.
Prevention of disease through rehabilitation practices.
Ensure the elaboration and updating of patient files through the records of treatments undertaken.

THE PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICE OF THE FUNDÃO HOSPITAL

History of the Service

The Physiotherapy Service of the Fundão Hospital has been in operation since the 1970's. Over the last few years there has been a significant increase in demand for its services, with the Service having recently undergone expansion and renovation works, having resulted in an increase in its capacity of response and in an improvement of the space and equipment.

Description of the Service

The Physiotherapy Service of the Fundão Hospital is open from Monday to Friday, from 8h00 to 16h00.

Areas of Assistive Activity

The Service admits patients from any functional unit of CHCB, namely Outpatient Consultation, Hospitalisation Services and Emergency Services, ensuring treatments in the Musculoskeletal, Cardiorespiratory, Neurology, Lymphatic Drainage, Palliative Care and Women's Health areas.

Teaching Activity

The Service collaborates with various Higher Education Institutions, supervising internships of students that are attending the Physiotherapy bachelor's degree course.
