ANAESTHESIOLOGY SERVICE
The anaesthetic activity of the Service is determined by the small number of doctors who integrate it.
Consequently, its activity is essentially of health care provision:
Anaesthesia for programmed surgery
Conventional - 4 rooms in the central unit
Outpatients - 2 rooms in the outpatient unit
Anaesthesia in locations far from the Operating Room
Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Unit
Imaging
Preoperative medicine
All patients proposed for programmed surgery shall be subject to a pre-evaluation in an-Anaesthesiology Consultation.

Post-anaesthetic care
In the Central Operating Room area there is a Post-Care Anaesthesia Unit with 8 "beds" and all the necessary devices for monitoring patients who have been operated.
In the area of the Outpatients Operating Room there is a Post-Care Anaesthesia Unit duly equipped with 4 beds and 2 armchairs.
Activities Performed in the Emergency Service
Chronic pain consultation
On a weekly basis, it addresses oncological and non-oncological pain.
Teaching activity
Is conducted on a regular basis and organised by three members of the service, who teach in the Medical School of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Beira Interior University.
All anaesthetists are involved in training students and trainees of all courses in the health area, who are placed in services where they carry out their activity, namely in the Operating Room.
